What it looks like to be a Christian artist

My faith in Jesus wasn’t always this bold. In high school I used to submit to popularity, attention, and likability rather than the person God was calling me to be. I am a sinner no doubt, and have countlessly fallen short of the Glory of God more times than it’s even possible to count. The good news is, through Jesus’s death on the cross, I am made new and my sins have been washed clean from my hands. I don’t have to worry about being perfect because I am nothing, and can do nothing, without the works of our perfect Creator. Through Christ, and Christ alone, I get to live my life in joy knowing that He has saved me from the sins of this world, and I am promised a new life in Heaven when my time on Earth is over.

Running a business comes with a lot of responsibility. I get to call the shots and I get to write the rules for myself. As having already established from the above paragraph, I am a sinner who is notoriously bad at being perfect and having everything together. With this in mind, I have decided to employ myself under the direction of God, and man do I feel much better designating Him to be the boss of my career over myself. I mean, He’s perfect! So there’s no one else better for the job. :)

Sooooo, what does this mean? I am confident that God has called me to use my gifts to bless others. My small business gives me a unique opportunity to meet people in a beautiful and extremely important transitioning time of their lives. During this time, I’m asked to paint a moment from the day where a man and a woman commit themselves to one another before God and many of the closest people in their lives. What an honor and such a humbling vocation that I get to be there to witness this as well! Marriage has been designed by God to be a reflection of His relationship with us. Ephesians 5:25 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”

With all of this in mind, it is my desire to continue to work with individuals who are looking for an imperfect person be a vessel of God’s love on one of the most important days of their life.

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.”

Daniel 2:20
